CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING WITH TECHNOLOGY TOOLS

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1 and 2

In this training, teachers will learn to use multiple tech-tools that will facilitate checking for understanding. From Quizziz to Plickers and Google Forms, teachers will learn about the different tools that make checking for understanding and providing immediate feedback easy. Teachers will create accounts and use the tech tools to apply the necessary corrective throughout and after the lesson.

THE ART OF APP SMASHING WITH TECHNOLOGY TOOLS

App Smashing is the process of incorporating a variety of apps to deliver a lesson. From planning to lesson delivery to guided practice and assessment, teachers will learn about different apps that can be used throughout the lesson cycle. App smashing is an innovative way to transform instruction and transform instruction into a paperless approach.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT WITH TECHNOLOGY TOOLS

Teachers in this training will learn about the multiple tools that help them have a well managed classroom. Teachers will walk out of this training with a toolbox composed of apps that help keep track of desired and unwanted behaviors, keep noise level down in the classroom, and other apps help with day-to-day classroom routines and expectations.

SKETCH SCIENCE NOTES: TOOLS FOR VISUAL NOTE-TAKING

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1, 2, and 3

This training walks teachers through the different elements of sketchnoting. It provides tips for the different components that are found in visual thinking and visual representations of academic concepts. From lettering to shadows, to banners and stick figures, teachers will walk out of this training with the knowledge to visual present concepts and help their students grasp complex ideas through the process of Sketchnoting.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM, HYPER DOCS, AND THE LESSON CYCLE IN SCIENCE

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1,2, and 3

This training is geared towards those schools subscribed to G-Suite for Education. Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) that allows teachers to create, distribute, and grade assignments in a paper-less way. Teachers will learn how to create a class, add students, add files and assignments, and grade the assignments. Teachers will be able to convert their instruction into a modified flipped approach through the use of Google Classroom. Most importantly, teachers will be able to keep everything organized and easily accessible.

AUGMENTED REALITY AND THE SCIENCE CLASSROOM

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1, 2, and 3

Though the use of a AR and VR iOS apps, teachers will be able to develop lessons that address different components of the science curriculum. From studying cell organelles and their function to creating compounds in Elements 4D, teachers will be able to use these apps to increase student engagement will students have fun learning essential student expectations and tested TEKS. Through the use of the Quiver app and the cell, students can practice their four language domains while explaining cell organelles. Teachers will learn how to use these apps to increase student achievement.

GETTING STARTED WITH VIRTUAL REALITY AND QR CODES

Im this training, teachers will learn a multitude of ways that QR codes can be used in the classroom to make lessons more engaging. From vocabulary development to review scavenger hunts, teachers will be able to develop a list of uses for QR codes in instruction. At the same time, teachers will learn to integrate scannable technology such as augmented reality to create engaging lessons. Teachers will be able to use AR to allow students to practice essential learning skills.

SPARK CREATIVITY

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1, 2, and 3

This training will walk teachers through the use of Adobe Spark Tools - Page, Post and Video. In the first part of this training (morning), teachers will learn to use each of these tools. From creating an account, to creating multiple practice products, teachers will learn the ins and outs of these three eye-catching tools. The second half (afternoon) will be composed of teachers creating multiple products using the three tools. Teachers will create non-linguistic representations in Spark Post, tutorial/review videos using Spark Video and a full lesson using Spark Page.

VIDEO PROJECTS: MAKING THEM PRACTICAL IN THE CLASSROOM

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1, 2, and 3

In this training, teachers will learn about the different video-making tools to implement in their instruction. First, teachers will learn the basics of Adobe Spark Video. This online-based tool can be used of any iOS device, ChromeBook or other computer with internet access. The second part of this training consists of learning to use iMovie and Clips (app) on iPad. Most of the morning will be spent on learning how to use these tools, and the latter portion will be spent on generating videos teachers can use for direct instruction. Teachers will also collaborate to create a list of topics which students can create videos for.

MOVIE MAKING WITH IPADS AND GREEN SCREEN

Focus:   T-TESS Domains 1, 2, and 3

Teacher will learn about the bet way to bring stories to life. From creating persuasive book trailers and novel book reports to developing their own story on a green screen app, teachers will be able to target literacy, comprehension and creativity using these fun and engaging apps. The use of these apps ensures that all language domains as tested in TELPAS for ELLs are targeted and embedded within the lesson.
