Teaching Science TEKS by Approaches, Meets, and Masters Levels


This professional development session is designed specifically for 8th-grade science teachers to enhance their understanding and application of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through differentiated instruction focused on the Approaches, Meets, and Masters levels of student performance. The goal is to equip educators with the strategies and tools necessary to effectively teach science concepts while addressing the diverse learning needs of their students.

Objectives

  • Understand the structure and expectations of the 8th-grade science TEKS.

  • Learn how to identify and implement instruction along with content that caters to different learning levels: Approaches, Meets, and Masters.

  • Develop formative assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress across the performance levels.
